Ottawa comes into this matchup off of back-to-back wins during a two-game homestand. The Senators knocked off a couple of the top teams in the Western Conference, beating the Dallas Stars 4-1 on Thursday before topping the defending Stanley Cup Champion Las Vegas Golden Knights 4-3 in a shootout on Saturday.
The Capitals had won three games in a row heading into Saturday, but were upended by the red-hot Florida Panthers on Saturday in the second game of a two-game Florida trip for Washington. That game also went to overtime, where the Capitals fell 3-2.
